Hollister Construction Services Completes Redevelopment of Allendale Town Center in Allendale, N.J.
Firm's Plan Allows Stores to Remain Open For Business Throughout Construction
ALLENDALE, N.J., (November 8, 2010) – Hollister Construction Services, a leading full-service general contractor and construction manager specializing in industrial, commercial and retail construction, today announced that it has completed the redevelopment of Allendale Town Center, a 90,000-square-foot shopping center at 35-63 West Allendale Avenue in Allendale, N.J.
Designed by Ives, Schier & Lesser architecture studio, the project, which received a first-place award in Mid-Atlantic Real Estate Journal's Retail Design Competition, involved renovating 20 individual, single-story retail stores that range in size from approximately 1,000 to 38,000 square feet. Tenants include A&P FRESH, TD Bank, Dairy Queen, Great Clips, Darla's Porch Family Café, and Learning Express.
"The redevelopment of Allendale Town Center was a complicated project, as it involved considerable coordination in order to provide contractors with access to each individual store while also providing safety to the public and keeping the center open for business," stated Chris Johnson, CEO of Hollister Construction Services. "The new storefronts and updated facades are now more in character with the community and are very inviting to the public."
Hollister removed Allendale Town Center's entire façade, including dated storefronts, awnings, canopies and finishes, and replaced it with an updated design. Additionally, the shopping center's footprint was increased with a 4,739-square-foot, steel-frame addition.
New entry features and towers were added to enhance the shopping center's appearance, create visual interest, and complement the design of anchor tenant A&P. Other improvements included the reconfiguration of the parking lot and drives to improve pedestrian safety, new lighting, sidewalks, curbing, paving and landscaping.
"Allendale Town Center is an interesting project," Johnson said. "It has many different construction elements that blend together beautifully to meet the goal of creating an atmosphere that's both visually pleasing and highly functional."
Hollister was engaged by owner The Azarian Group, LLC of Midland Park, N.J., and worked in close cooperation with subcontractors and third-party consultants to meet client expectations.
The Hollister project team responsible for the successful completion of this assignment is Project Executive John Brucker, Field Project Manager Tom Herwood, and Project Administrator Maria Parrella.
